Ditch H Rehabilitation Project

In late August, a major construction project will begin in Ditch H, the large drainage channel located between First Colony (LID 2) and Telfair (LID 17). Ditch H is the main outfall channel that drains all runoff inside the LID 2 levee. It begins near US-90A and Constellation Field, flows along the LID 2 West Levee, and ends in the Brazos River near Sugar Land Memorial Park.

Fort Bend County Drainage District will lead the Ditch H Rehabilitation project in partnership with LID 2 and LID 17. The budget for the entire project is $9,000,000 and the LID 2 contribution is $2,350,000. Millis Equipment was selected as the County’s contractor, and they will repair erosion issues throughout the 4-mile-long drainage channel.

The scope of repairs includes the installation of more than 50,000 tons of rock that will stabilize eroded areas in Ditch H.  This means more than a thousand truckloads of material will be delivered to the project. In addition, over 1,000 wooden pilings will be driven into the eroded ditch slopes to further stabilize the bank of Ditch H and prevent more sloughing. Due to the high volume of construction activity, please remain aware of traffic entering and existing the roads that cross Ditch H.  The construction entrances are highlighted on the map below.
